PathoChick™

Experiencing performance drops or rising health issues, including increased mortality, in your poultry farm? The PathoChick™ diagnostic panel offers a comprehensive set of microbiome analyses to detect the key poultry pathogens.

Where it helps?

  • In poultry production, our analyses will help identify root causes of issues observed and apply targeted nutritional, veterinary, or management solutions.
  • PathoChick™ can provide insights into the effectiveness of gut health solutions currently in use under the farm’s specific conditions.
  • Producers can use the panel to monitor the pathogen pressure in their farms over time and include this data into the farm management system.
  • For feed additive companies, PathoChick™ will provide a thorough overview of the additive’s impact on common pathogens, highlighting the benefits. This is especially relevant for multi-functional additives.

How does it work?

We mainly use fecal samples for pathogen detection. However, you can also use the analysis panel for any intestinal compartment originated sample types. Our BioFreeze™ kits ensure convenient sampling and smooth logistics.

What do we measure?

The PathoChick™ panel targets the most critical pathogens in poultry production:

  • Clostridium perfringens
A leading cause of necrotic enteritis, C. perfringens spreads rapidly and is hard to control, especially with reduced antibiotic use.
  • Avian Pathogenic E.  coli (APEC)
The primary cause of colibacillosis, APEC leads to high mortality, poor growth rates and FCR, increased condemnation rates at slaughter, resulting in significant economic losses.
  • Salmonella spp.
A major threat to poultry production due to its impact on food safety, poultry health, economic stability, and public confidence.
  • Enterococcus cecorum
The incidence of E. cecorum-associated severe skeletal diseases in poultry has risen, particularly in high-density, intensive production systems. Its antibiotic resistance often complicates control measures. Its effective management requires a combination of biosecurity, early detection, and careful monitoring of flock health.
  • Eimeria spp.
A major cause of coccidiosis, affecting poultry of all ages but particularly devastating in young birds. Different Eimeria species target different parts of the intestine and cause varying degrees of damage, which complicates diagnosis and treatment.
